I’ve written my first pattern. I was inspired by several wrist warmers (aka fingerless mittens) and I really wanted a pair for myself but after several attempts I couldn’t find a pattern that was exactly what I was looking for. Here’s what I came up with to satisfy my craving to create a pair of these bad boys for myself. I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as me. 🙂

Thanks for sharing this pattern! I have one done and will start the 2nd this evening. I did modify a bit because I have long and wide hands-and at the same time wanted them snug, lol. I am sooooo happy with how the first has turned out. After I finish the 2nd I’ll send or link a photo.
Thanks for this download. I’ve been looking for some easy wrist warmers to make for my daughter. Fingers crossed I’ll be able to make these for her. I’m just waiting for the download to complete then I’ll need to find out where to get hold of the loom to make them.

I am using the blue round loom but it has 24 pegs so if i reverse when i get to 24 for thumb how will that make a space for the thumb to fit in as i am using all the pegs still?
Hi, Mercy! You’re absolutely correct. When you turn your work you will no longer be working in the round – you’ll be working back and forth for a few rows – which will create the thumb opening. Please let me know if you have any more questions!
thank you very much. I am really new to loom knitting and made 2 preemie hats from the internet and the youtube videos are very helpful too. Also did a neck warmer as i did not have enough yarn to do a scarf i just sewed the two chunky sides together as i was using chunky yarn its nice and thick. Only started this week using round loom then the shortest long loom for neck warmer. I really am enjoying this after doing crochet work for a few years.

I have been looking through various patterns for these, but was never quite happy with them. Until now! This is exactly what I was looking for to make as a gift for someone. I’m thinking of adding a couple strands that will go between the middle fingers to sort of keep them in place, but I’ll have to see how it looks. Thanks again, these are great!

When I first started loom knitting I watched a lot of videos on the The Purling Sprite blog written by Isela Phelps. One entire section of her blog is devoted to loom knitting and she is considered by many to be a leading authority on loom knitting. She’s written several loom knitting books and she’s made numerous TV appearances to talk about looming. If you’ll follow THIS LINK, Isela has several videos posted on her blog that demonstrate different stitches using a loom, including the knit stitch.

I am halfway done with my first glove and am a little concerned that it is going to be too wide. Did you have this problem? If so what did you do? Wash and dry it to shrink? Btw, I am using the kniffty knitters blue round loom with 24 pegs.
@Keisha – 1)I have large hands and my fingerless mittens were a perfect fit once they were off the loom (I used the same one you’re using), 2)Things still on the loom always look larger than the finished product, and 3)My loom knitting stitches are VERY tight which will make the mitten smaller.
If you’re finished mittens are too large my suggestions are that if you’re using 100% wool yarn you can try to felt them. Acrylic or acrylic blend yarns will not shrink much in the washer and dryer. Otherwise I would try starting over and trying to make your stitches tighter or try using a different variation of the knit stitch to product a tighter stitch and thus making a smaller mitten.

Hi Gretchen, I am a new loom knitter and have a few questions about your pattern for the wrist warmers.
Row 9-14 knit pegs 1-24 & reverse to 1. What stitch are you using when you say knit pegs?
Each time you reverse from 24 – 1 is that 1 row?
Row 15-30 knit all,pegs in the round. What stitch are you using again here? I guess I am just not clear when it says ‘knit pegs’.
If I want a less roll at the hand you said to knit 2 purl 2. Does that mean knit a peg and purl the next peg or knit a row and purl the next row?

I am working on making these wrist warmers, I just love them. This is my first project on my loom. I did figure out the ewrap and the knit stitch, I did my first eight rows and even did the 9-14 rows leaving the space for the thumb hole. Now that I am back to knit stitching all pegs again, I am concerned that I messed something up. I still have a stitch from row 8 on my peg that I wasn’t using for the thumb hole. I don’t quite understand how to finish that off now and knit on all pegs. If this dosen’t make sense, I would be able to send you a picture of my project and maybe that would help. Thank you

@vera wang bridal shoes – There was no cost to set up this blog and no fees whatsoever to keep it operational. It is completely free, as are many blogs. Do a Google search for “how to set up a free blog” and you’ll find many sites that host blogs, like WordPress, Blogger, etc. Good luck!

I just wish there were detailed videos or decent photos of how the first few knitted rows are done. I’m male so, it’s definitely a man kind of thing. I can’t tell a knit from a purl.
I’ve made a lot of hats and scarves, even a pair of slippers but, these fingerless mittens are something I’d love to learn to do.. I’ve already got a neck scarf in the colro I want to use, now I just need to make the mittens.

I do a lot of “man-crame” and tie all kinds of bracelets and knots but, they never mention knitting and purling.
I think it’s one of those many secrets you keep from men like “What’s a lady carry in that big ole purse?”

Hi! Really like your website and tutorials! As a starter I have already learnt a lot from looking at you videos, so thank you. I would like to make my kids (3 yrs and 6 yrs ) some socks and fingerless gloves but can’t seem to find the right pattern, I brought a smaller loom (the flower loom) hoping it would fit but it didn’t work, it’s too small. Any advice would be appreciated. Like what size loom to use and pattern?
