Two Finished Projects

I finally finished the basket I’ve been working on. I like how this looks but to be honest I think it’s a little, um, floppy. The sides want to fall in on themselves. This was an easy pattern and I think if I make another basket I’ll try to use 2 strands of yarn.

Crochet Basket

I fell in love with Stitch ‘N Bitch’s one skein scarf from the moment first saw a photo of another person’s completed project. I knew I had to make one for myself. I used cotton yarn because I had some on hand that wasn’t designated to another project and I think this wasn’t the best yarn choice. It’s pretty but feels heavy. This was quick and easy and this would be a great last minute gift.

Threadbanger Crochet Beret

I found another quick and easy crochet project found on Ravelry. (Man, I really love this website.) It’s a crochet beret from Corinne Leigh of  Threadbanger. I’ve wanted to make a beret for what seems like forever and I’ve finally found a really simple looking pattern.

I’ve already started on it and it’s going pretty quickly. I’ll post pics when it’s completed.

Edit: 9/17/09 –

I finished this beret and took a few photos of myself modeling it. It took a few hours to complete – it took me longer to find time to take the pictures. Enjoy!

Crochet Basket & Two Baby Blankets

I found a simple pattern at Ravelry for a crochet basket that I HAD to make. I’ve seen similar baskets like this on Ikea’s website and really liked them. Considering that I can make this for less than $4 in any color I want I’d say I found a great deal. :)

The pattern calls for using Lily Sugar & Cream in a solid color but I had two skeins of ombre in my stash. It looks great to me. I think if I make one of these baskets again I’ll use a solid color. Maybe cream like the inspiration piece?

Inside the Crochet Basket

In addition to the crochet basket, I have updates on the two baby blankets mentioned in my last post. I haven’t done any work on them but at least now they’re photographed for your viewing pleasure.

Single Crochet Baby Blanket

Wow, look at how long it’s been since I’ve posted! Sorry, dear readers, but being without an internet connection has kept me from updating. Now that our internet connections is FINALLY up and running, I should be able to update you with my yarn projects more frequently.

I have been crocheting up a storm! Last month I created a very simple, single crochet baby blanket with Red Heart Super Saver yarnusing a size P hook. I did not have a pattern but basically this is a big square using 1 stitch through out (single crochet). I stitched a single crochet border around the edges to give it a more finished look. It’s final measurements are about 32″ x 32″.

Close Up of Stitch Detail

I liked the simplicity of this baby blanket so much that I started another one using Red Heart Super Savor with one strand of a Cream color and another strand of Turquoise. Instead of single crochet I’m doing this one in half double crochet. I’m using a size P hook on this new blanket too.

I’m also working on a baby blanket in single crochet using a very pretty, multi-colored yarn by Yarn Bee Angel Fleece that I bought at Hobby Lobby. It’s a extra-soft and the colors are perfect.

I don’t know why, but these two baby blankets have stalled. For some reason, I cannot motivate myself to finish them. I am going to have to double my efforts! I supposed that I’ll have to find someone to give these blankets to as well. :) I began them with no one in particular in mind. That might explain why I’m not in any hurry to get them done. Maybe I could sell them all on Etsy.com?
